Golden Doors to Freedom Reception and Artist Talk

ArtWorks for Freedom's Golden Doors to Freedom is a participatory arts project that turns abandoned doors into dramatic vehicles for communal focus on human trafficking. Taking a battered old door and turning it into a beautiful work of art tells us about our capacity to change perceptions and create empathy in the place of indifference.

This summer, Arts in Foggy Bottom invited residents to help create its own Golden Door to Freedom. Twelve doors from the community art project, including the Arts in Foggy Bottom door, are on display in the Atrium at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Old Town Alexandria until November 20.

A reception and artist talk with participants who helped to create the Golden Doors will be held on November 9 from 6 to 9 pm.
